This used to be a pigsty

Pigsty in Stroe (Netherlands)

Last weekend we visited my sister and brother-in-law who own a cottage in the eastern part of the country where they go every now and then to escape from the madding crowd (read: Amsterdam).

The chalet is situated at the edge of the wood, so we always go for a healthy walk there. On the way we saw this dilapidated hogpen that obviously was no longer used because of the state it was in and maybe therefore made a picturesque impression. I also liked the colours, the result of it all: a picture and a smile.

    • You are right. The farm itself also looked rather old, so I imagine that it has already been exploited for quite some time. As they usually are family businesses, I fantasize about various generations living and working here over the years in all kinds of circumstances.
