Double-flowered Aquilegia

IMG_2716

This double-flowered Aquilegia is for Connie who posted a beautiful photo on her blog Basildonkitchens of her blooming columbines. I love these flowers too and have quite a collection in my garden in a great number of varieties. Connie was curious to see a double-flowered species, so here it is.

This pic was taken on 5 May when they were at their peak. Unfortunately nearly all of them are gone now, but numerous seedlings from last year are doing their best to put up a show for the next spring.

  1. Aren’t they beautiful? Hard to photograph though as the heads hang down. You did very well with this one it is lovely and sharp and such a pretty colour. You can see why they are called ‘Granny’s bonnets’
