Night view of the Kuipershaven, one of the ports of Dordrecht. December 2014.
The dock dates from 1928 and was built for the engineering factory L. Straatman that was active from 1902 to 1996. Now another factory is using this national monument.
The dock has a huge historical value for the industrial heritage, as it is one of the few remaining lifting devices for reparations on a ship. The vessel is lifted out of the water, so that repair works on its lower parts can be done from wooden platforms.
